Being part of a scattered family from a geographical point of view I’ve come to learn how to make the most of my time with them, making sure I can take something away with me even after we’ve said our goodbyes.
And this time I’ve realised that despite the fact that you cannot chose your parents, your family or where you grew up, they are the ones who will accept you for who you are. And quite often, well in my opinion I couldn’t have chosen better. They are the one set of people who will be there for me whatever happens, the ones with whom I can feel relaxed, worry-less, confident. And this is it, pure happiness, no fear of judgement, no expectations and therefore no deceptions. It may not seem perfect to an outsider but for me this is the idea of perfection.
And what I want to take back from spending time with them is this: wherever I go, whatever I do, I want to make sure I can recreate the same sensation of comfort. The key to be as happy with anyone as you are with your family members doesn’t lie in surrounding yourself with people who are like them, but for you to remain as authentic and confident as you are when around them. No anxiety, no fear of judgement, just you.
Time to find that authenticity and shine it out to the rest of the world!
